Profile
I believe Australia's amazing natural environment is worth saving for future generations. Working as an environmental planner and landscape architect there is scope to positively impact both communities and the natural environment. The development of my career to teach about these inter-relationships has been a wonderful opportunity. Working towards better environmental outcomes as humans interact with the planet is not just about academic theories but also about practical, everyday solutions and so I try to live my vocation. Whether I am in the vegie garden, revegetating local bushland, preparing a master-plan, engaging with stakeholders or talking with local school children, my everyday experiences inform my professional consulting, research and teaching. With a growing awareness in the local community about the natural environment, sustainable development and climate change, I strive as an academic and practitioner to be up to date on the best of the theory and the practice. Much of my experience is in Sydney, with a strong working knowledge of the NSW planning system and local issues. I believe the change needed in society is towards a more holistic approach considering both the natural environment and community needs now and for future generations. The role of Environmental Planners in this process is crucial both locally, regionally and beyond.
